A Brief Profile

Located in the lush green region of Koti village of Junga sub-tehsil, Govt. Degree College Chail-Koti came into existence on 1st June 2014 as a co-educational institution. Surrounded by the towering deodar trees, apple orchards and variety of wild flowers, the college campus invariably exhibits the different hues of beauty and makes an environment for concentrated learning. Beginning with 39 students, the college initially offered Arts stream with English, Hindi, Political Science, Economics, Sociology, History, Mathematics and Physical Education. The commencement of commerce classes in June 2015 was another milestone for the college as the students now get the wider choice of subjects. Music is the food of soul, and as such, the college feels privileged to have got Music Instrumental as one more subject in the Arts stream. After initial days of anchorlessness, the classes began in a private accommodation provided free of cost by Shri O.P. Sharma at Koti. After a prolonged struggle, the efforts of the Principal and Staff of the college bore fruit as one Gram-Sewak Hut, one Guard Hut and an old P.H.C. were handed over by the respective departments to the college so that the classes could run smoothly. Eventually, the foundation stone of the college building was laid/ place down by Lt. Shri Virbhadra Singh, the then Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, on 17th May, 2015 near Govt. Primary School. The Primary School building handed over to the college to facilitate the smooth running of classes. After the clearance of forest land in favour of education department under FCA Act 1980, the construction work of the new college building started in July 2020 which is now complete in all respects. In current session, the college will start working in the new building. In the new building we have modern class-rooms, ITC labs, library, girls’ common room and canteen. We have big playground for the students having interest in sports. We are planning to introduce new add-on courses according to the need and the interest of the students. Since its inception, the college is committed to provide the students with quality education with its motto of Gyanam Param Balam (Knowledge is Supreme Power). In order to achieve our goal and ensure the all-round development of the students, we offer programs such as NSS and organize various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities throughout the year along with regular academic activities. As a team, we are moving ahead with the aim to make the students better equipped to face the challenges of life, both professionally and personally.
