Located in the serene setting of Koti village, Junga sub-tehsil, in Shimla district, the college offers an inspiring environment for the study of history. The subject is part of the Arts stream and can be opted in combination with other disciplines such as English, Hindi, Political Science, Sociology, Economics, Mathematics, and Physical Education.
The curriculum, prescribed by Himachal Pradesh University, covers a wide range of topics including ancient, medieval, and modern Indian history, world history, and themes related to culture, society, and political developments. Students are encouraged to go beyond memorization and develop a critical understanding of the past and its relevance to the present.
The department is led by Dr. Subhash Kapta who focus on making history engaging and meaningful.
